In year 1838, the Victorian and the complementary Carriage House was built by William C. Dryer. Serving as the Village Postmaster, caretaker of the Victor Hotel, and a prominent figure within politics, the Dryer family name rose to a symbol of local distinguish. Residing in the Estate through the late 1800’s, the Dryer Family enjoyed being the first home within the village to establish running water. Upon William’s passing on 02/21/1891, the property was sold to a local family, and has changed hands several times through the years as various business endeavors.
December of 2021, the Dryer Estate was purchased by current owner(s) Mike and Cara Fallat, with a vision of revitalization. The Victorian House currently operates as a bridal boutique, with an attached vacation rental known as 72 Victorian. After an extensive renovation in the Fall of 2022, the lower portion of the Carriage House is operated by Cara as The Collected Home Company (now closed). With a personal touch on all offerings, TCHC serves as a home décor boutique with hand-curated favors and home furnishings. Surrounding a family owned and operated Tavern in Charlton, NY, the value of entrepreneurship was instilled in Cara at a very young age. Cara's dream to open a small business of her own was a result of her loving parents and grandparents, who played a key role in the introduction to her vision.
In May of 2023, the conclusion of the final phase of the Dryer Estate revitalization was fulfilled. The upper portion of the carriage house is now home to an event venue with availability for all community members to Gather. The name of the venue was chosen by Cara and Mike, amidst a desire to provide a timeless space for the enjoyment of family & friends alike. The preservation of historic charm instilled by the Dryer family, along with the comfort and convenience of modern furnishings, Gather provides all patrons with a distinct experience of their choosing.
With a private intersection leading to Main Street, an elegant red-brick driveway is guided to the entrance of Gather. Upon walking through the main door, eyes are promptly drawn to the original hand-hewn wood flooring. The dining space is filled with sixty-inch round wooden tables, farmhouse style cross back chairs, and a free standing gentlemen’s bar. Adjacent to the dining area is a casual space perfectly suited for hors d'oeuvres and cocktail hour, with high-top tables and a live-edge standing bar. The attached semi commercial kitchen allows for a spacious setup to perfectly compose all food and drink preparations.
